God of the Month: Hermes Hermes the god of theives and travelers the messenger of the gods, is the son of Zeus and Maia. When he was young he stole cattle from his brother Apollo making him the god of theives. Hermes looks like a handsome young man with winged sandels, winged helmet, and a staff with two snakes wrapped around it. The staff is called Kerykerion. He was born in a cave on a huge mountain in Mount Cylene. Hermes has a few children but his most famous is Pan the god wilderness. He was the one who lead the dead to Charons' boat to cross the river Styx.
